Re: Application for Senior Accountant

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to apply for the Senior Accountant position at Lakeshore Foods. I'm a CPA who owns the month-end close for a $120M logistics company, and the combination of scale and process improvement in your posting is exactly the work I do best.

At Northgate Logistics I cut the close from ten business days to six, automated our bank reconciliations to save twelve hours a month, and prepared the schedules behind three consecutive clean external audits. My public-accounting years at Fraser & Malone taught me what auditors need before they ask for it.

I would welcome the chance to bring that same rigor to your finance team. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
Michael Osei, CPA

Why this letter works

It opens with the match, not a biography

The first paragraph names the role and immediately connects the candidate's strongest proof to it. No 'I am writing to express my interest' filler.

Every claim carries a number

The middle paragraph re-uses the resume's best quantified achievements. Hiring managers treat numbers as evidence and adjectives as noise.

It closes with a specific, low-pressure ask

A short request for a conversation — confident, polite, and done in under 250 words, because recruiters skim letters even faster than resumes.

Pair it with the matching resume
